Reporting Others

Part of our commitment to the Honor Code is supporting others in their commitments as well. That effort may necessitate reporting behavior that is not in harmony with the standards of BYU. If you would like to make a report about someone else, we will need a few items of information in order to accept the report, this will include your name and contact information. The Honor Code Office does not typically accept anonymous reports. Our interest is in helping students and responding to reliable information from those who share our same interest.

As part of our investigation, we may need to follow up with the reporting party. Therefore, your contact information and name will be important for us to complete this process.

Know that the Honor Code Office Confidentiality Statement outlines that the Honor Code Office will reasonably strive to avoid disclosing the identity of those reporting information.

Once an initial report is received by the Honor Code Office, that information is reviewed to determine if potential violations of the Honor Code have occurred. The next step is to determine what is necessary to resolve any concerns or behaviors.
