ROLES OF ECCLESIASTICAL LEADERS AND HONOR CODE OFFICE PERSONNEL
Roles of Ecclesiastical Leaders

Determine students' ecclesiastical endorsement status.

Report ecclesiastical actions when they involve disfellowshipment,
excommunication, or disaffiliation with The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints.

Counsel students placed on Honor Code probation and referred to ecclesiastical
leaders by the Honor Code Office for violations of the Honor Code.

Refer students to the Honor Code Office as part of the repentance process as
deemed necessary.

Communicate with the university regarding nonconfidentially- obtained
violation reports.
Roles of Honor Code Office Counselors

Encourage students to contact their ecclesiastical leader when there have been
Honor Code violations.

Consult with ecclesiastical leaders regarding nonconfidential and
nonprivileged information and, with appropriate consent, regarding
confidential and privileged information with respect to the facts and action
being considered and/ or taken.

Inform ecclesiastical leaders when students are required to leave the
university whether or not the students have signed a Waiver of Priest/
Parishioner Privilege and Consent to Share Confidential Information form since
leaving school potentially impacts LDS students' membership in the church unit.

Require students to counsel with and resolve ecclesiastical issues related to
their Honor Code violations as part of their conditions of probation or of
reentry into the university.
Roles of Honor Code Office Support Personnel

Facilitate the annual endorsement of continuing students.

Provide administrative support to counselors by creating and maintaining
student educational records.

Maintain current policy and procedures handbook.

Generate statistical reports of Honor Code Office interactions.
